Manly Beach is a another Sydney icon and a must see. It's a place of surf, sun and Manly's famous fish and chips.
“Manly, seven miles from Sydney and 1,000 miles from care” was the slogan used by the Port Jackson & Manly Steamship Company in 1940 to describe this seaside retreat.
Today, Manly remains an ideal place to brush off the dust of the city.
Given that Manly is seven nautical miles from Sydney; the ferry is still the best way to get here. The Manly Ferry makes the 30-minute trip from Circular Quay regularly everyday.
Although if you are short on time the Manly JetCat, which a bit more expensive can get you to here in just 15 minutes.
Beyond the beach, there is plenty to do in Manly. There are walking tracks overlooking unspoiled bush land and incredible harbour views, as well as the Art Gallery and Museum, which are located just off the Wharf.
Oceanworld Manly is also nearby and is located on picturesque Manly Cove beach, with daily guided tours and live shows.
The Corso at Manly, is the mall promenade between Manly Beach and Manly Wharf. Filled with an array of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes, it is a good place to try some of Manly’s famous fish and chips.
Once the sun goes down, Manly’s bars get pumping and many are open until the wee hours. But be warned, Manly at night isn’t always for the faint of heart.
